Olympia Sports Park & Its Trails
Olympia Sports Park is nestled into the Southern Highlands community, situated in the southern foothills of Southern Nevada. Located about 10 miles from the famous Las Vegas Strip, residents here enjoy a small-town atmosphere. Olympia Sports Park offers a mountainous, desert terrain that forms a semi-circular border for its mild trails, fitness equipment, basketball court, soccer fields, a playground and a splash pad. Particularly interesting (to me) is the mild, hilltop trail. As you walk the path, you'll find a few workout stations, sheltered picnic areas, and of course desert plants, such as the Purple Prickly Pear shown below. What's more, a spectacular view of the strip can be appreciated after your upward, but mild, climb. In another direction, you can see the M Casino, located 4-5 miles away.
